Dill and Cream...together at last??

I love pickles 

I love beer

I have enjoyed all pickle beer I’ve had

I love Jack Pine (the bewery physically closest to me)

I LIKE cream ale

I...don’t really like this.

First sip and I got hit with what seem to be a nondescript taste I can only describe as “weird”

Then, on the back end some of the dill kicked in and it helped but it still was just missing something.

it feels like they needed to go MORE in one direction, either make it more beery or more dilly. As it stands neither flavor really shines through so it tastes a little muddled.

Jack Pine has a massively high success rate with beer so there’s bound to be a miss or two sometimes. I’m sure there are a lot of people who dug this but I’m just not one of them.

Oh, and it’s very low at a 4.3 on the Drunkenscale so you’re not going to be getting drunk on this either. I’ll drink a bad tasting beer if it’s getting me drunk but session beers have to be really tasty.

Juicetree DIPA by Portage Brewing

I love a good DIPA. I love Dua Lipa. Listening to Dua Lipa while drinking a DIPA just sounds delightful. It’s the TRIPLE D! Dua Lipa, DIPA, Delight!

This Juicetree from Portage, out of Walker, MN, makes me think I never want another beer I can see through. When I first poured it was clear but then as the settled bits came in it turned into this delicious cloudy drink. I’m a fan of thick beer. If I needed a spoon to drink my beer, well, that’s a positive. It’s fruity and hoppy and just yummy.

This is the first time I’ve updated my blog in awhile and I didn’t look back to check how I was rating things before so I’m using a scale of how many thumbs up it is. I will say it is an 8.0 on the drunkenscale and it drinks so smooth that it’s dangerous.

I give this Juicetree by Portage 88 out of 100 thumbs up. So many thumbs...88 of them to be precise.

I had an amazingly generous person send me some beer recently and in there was the tight little number Mmmhops by the Hanson Bros. They've branched out of music and into beer! I'm honestly surprised that nobody else had already named a beer Mmmhops but I'm glad that they were the first since they are most deserving of the title.

Oh...you want to know how the beer was? Is that why you came here? Not to listen to me bastardize Hanson lyrics?

It was good! I hate being so general but that was my honest thought while drinking it.

It's a pale ale and its a solid example of a pale ale. I can't think of anything particularly special to say about it though.

Here is some decent praise for it...it was a good beer. If I wanted to pour someone a glass of something that I thought was a solid representation of the word beer then I could do a lot worse than a can of Mmmhops.

It's a strong 7.5 on the Drinkenscale though so a little over average on the booziness but it didn't really come through in the flavor, which is a good thing. It was definitely hop forward which is what I'd expect from a beer with the word hop right there in the name.

I'd love to tell you how it poured or how the lacing kissed and caressed my glass but...I drank it straight from the can like a fucking savage.

Mouthfeel? MOUTHFEEL??? It felt wet in my mouth like a liquid should. Cold and carbonated. Not a lot of carbonation...I'd say just the right amount.

Honestly, this was the perfect beer to call Mmmhops. Like the song, it is a generic representation of a genre that is catchy as all hell and you can't help loving it even if you aren't 100% sure why you love it.

Good job, Hanson Bros. You keep on mmmbopping through life!

Hofbrau Dunkel/Dunkel Gold

I went from technically not a beer, to what I would consider to be an absolute beer. When you think of BEER flavor, I imagine you're thinking of a Bavarian dark beer. This has flavor in spades, a strong, spicy very drinkable beer. Tipping the Drinkenscale at 5.5 you can drink them and not have to worry about forgetting how good it is.
Low IBU coming in at 22 because this is not a hop head's beer. This is a beer man's beer. (I LOVE HOPS BY THE WAY SO I'M NOT DEGRADING THEM) I just think this tastes like what you expect beer to taste like. No surprises, no fruits, no hops...just BEER.

Crabbie's Spiced Orange Alcoholic Ginger Beer

I was hesitant to include this one because it TECHNICALLY isn't a beer, it's an alcoholic soda. However, it has the word BEER right there in the title so it counts.
This basically tastes like a slightly alcoholic ginger ale with a tiny, tiny hint of orange. My first sip left me slightly disappointed but I think I was expecting something else. After finishing it I can definitely say I liked it. It was a unique flavor at least. Very low on the Drinkenscale, coming in at a measly 4.8, it's another "beer" that you can sip on all day long and barely feel a thing. I'd recommend this for drinking if you like soda, just don't expect a BEER.

Leffe Blonde

Sunday afternoon is the perfect time to drink some beer.

Started my day off with this beauty right here

Leffe Blonds is a Belgian style blonde ale. Now, it saddens me a bit to learn that Leffe is owned by InBev but this is still a good beer, worthy of being enjoyed. It's an easy drinking beer that measures 6.6 on the drinkenscale. (That would be the ABV) I tasted some citrus and some spices in the mix.

It's really hard to go wrong with a Belgian Ale. Those monks know what they are doing.
